Training Guidelines for Successful Seafarers

So you've got stats. So does every other motherless sea dog out there. Want to be better than they are? Here's a set of guidelines myself and Msaber623 follow or surpass as a general rule for training.

It's a lot of fun to go out there and pick fights and gain levels and experience... but training up your basic stats is key to being a successful pirate. This simple formula can give you an idea if you are ready to gain a few levels or not:

(Amount of XP needed for next level) x 10 = "magic number"

If each of your stats is equal to or greater than that magic number, you're probably in very good shape. If not, you should spend more time training. It's a long and arduous process, and sometimes boring, but without it, you'll be nothing but an easy target for other pirates. This formula works for levels 1-100. Once you reach level 100, the multiplier to find your magic number should go up. Older and more experienced pirates in the gang that showed me the ropes suggest that at level 100, you increase the multiplier to 11, at 200 to 12, and so forth.

This is a decent guideline, which I personally have chosen to overshoot and increase to 20 for my own training when I got to level 100, and I'll increase to 40 at level 200. Whether you use the basic model or develop your own more intensive regimen, remember that training is all important and essential.

If all members of our crew use at least the basic formula described above, we'll be on the fast track to gang success. MSaber623 and I routinely defeat enemies up to 500 levels above us (not bunnies either). Defeating higher level pirates bring you more XP per attack, and if the pirate you are attacking is a member of another gang, it gets the gang experience equal to your experience from the kill. More gang experience is more gang levels, which moves us up in the rankings, and brings us all closer to ruling the seas.

Good luck 'n keep training!
